Now posted are the 2006 Rose Bowl odds between the USC Trojans and the Michigan Wolverines. Southern Cal is a little disappointed to be here after having the BCS title game all but locked up. Then they ran into their cross-town rivals in UCLA and ended up blowing their chance. Michigan is also a team that feels slighted after Florida jumped them in the standings and took away the matchup with Ohio State. USC should know how that feels when they were slighted two years ago and had to play Michigan in the Rose Bowl instead of Oklahoma or LSU for the title.
However, that left the Rose Bowl with a great matchup with two traditional powerhouses. This should be one of the most exciting games all season long and the odds makers feel like both teams are very similar, thus the near pick em.
Michigan’s defense looked nearly invincible until the Ohio State game, giving up only 43 ypg on the ground which is good enough to lead the nation. The bad news for Trojan fans is that even though the school doesn’t rely a whole lot on the ground game, USC has lost both games in which they rushed for less than 100 yards.
Michigan will definitely try to run the ball with Mike Hart, who was the country’s seventh leading rusher at 126.3 yards per game and 14 touchdowns. The Trojans offense will be lead by John David Booty and the most talented tandem of receivers in the nation with Steve Smith and Dwayne Jarrett.
Which team will force their style of play on the other? Michigan is averaging over 30 points per game while allowing less than 15, but USC has very similar numbers. If you can’t find a winner, check out our college bowl picks and let our experts help you out.
